What a glorious, excruciating time we are in. 2018 has been shaping up quite nicely (and not-so-nicely) as the Year of Refinement. The sweet Circle of Lapis Moon sisters have joked that January was the longest year, and February was the shortest week… and March? Well, March has been raw and exposed and stark in all the ways that foster intense, catapulting growth. Spring is not for the faint of heart— climbing up through the layers that we’ve buried ourselves under, and cracking through the still icy and uninviting soil is no delicate feat. Just before the butterfly emerges, it must allow itself to fully dissolve into nothingness.
Do not dig up in fear what you planted in faith.
A vital part of “Refinement” is integrity. n. Doing the right thing when no one is looking. Speaking your truth when you know it’s not in your immediate best interest. Owning your experiences as your own, trusting alignment, and releasing all that no longer serves. Recognizing that choice dictates destiny, and fate is inevitable. We each have our own perception of reality, a kaleidoscopic Venn Diagram of prismatic points of view; where they overlap— where Truth shimmers through the layered fabrics of perspective— we find Shared Reality, a pristine place where we are co-creators and cohabitants. To walk a spiritual path (any spiritual path) is to have one foot planted in Reality, and the other dipped in the miasmic swirlings of the mystical. When we lose our footing, our rooting in Shared Reality, we lose our grip. Our perceptions become muddied, maddened… sometimes misanthropic, sometimes bemused. It is easy to get swept into the whimsy and mystery of the Other. It’s vibrancy, it’s multifaceted-ness, and want to discard this world, that seems, at times, to pale in comparison. Yet, you cannot “live” there, or you will be overcome by madness. Such a fine, razor’s edge. The grace and strength comes in integrating the two, in witnessing the brilliance of other worlds, and having the presence to pull some of that sparkle into the mundane. To meld the etheric with the everyday.
Yes, a thousand times, YES! invest in that which has soul. That which puts a twist in your hips, and honey on your tongue. And then ground it. Plant it. Water it. Nourish it. And most importantly: share it. But do not hide in it, unfettered and distracted… or you will lose your self… and that would defeat the purpose of being here, now.
